POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Absences:
Please call the school office (850-767-5075), email me (fagannh@bay.k12.fl.us), or send a note upon their return if your child is absent from school.  Notification must be received within three days or the absence will be marked as unexcused.
Please fill out a pre-approved family leave form in advance if you have any planned travels.

Student Planners:
Each Falcon has received a school issued Student Planner book.  This planner will go back and forth between home and school each day.  This is where students will record important events, test dates, and their daily reading log.  Please sign your child’s planner every day after they have completed their 30 minutes of reading.  Students will receive a ticket (refer to Behavior Expectations) for every signature. Parents can also leave quick notes to me in the planner and I will record daily behavior notes, if needed. Students will also have important passwords taped to the inside cover of their individual planners.

Take-Home Folders:
Each student will receive a folder which will be sent home each Friday.  They will be filled with handouts from the front office, papers that need to be signed and returned, as well as papers that can remain at home.  Please be sure to check this folder and return any necessary papers to school as soon as possible.

Homework:
READING, READING, and more READING!
Falcons must read a minimum of 30 minutes at home each day. Please sign your child’s planner when they have completed their daily reading.  Students will also be required to prepare for spelling, vocabulary and other assessments at home.  Special projects and any classwork that is not completed will also be assigned as homework.

Behavior Expectations:
Student’s behavior will be monitored using a behavior chart and ticket system.  Students will earn extra tickets each time they “clip-up” the chart (Good Day, Great Job, and Outstanding) and will lose tickets and recess time when they “clip-down” (Slow Down, Teacher’s Choice, and Parent Alert).  These tickets are our classroom currency in which students may buy small treats or a special activity.  I will also leave a note in their planner or email you for any recurring issues we might have.

Tardies:
School begins earlier this year.  Our first bell is at 7:40 a.m. and our tardy bell rings at 7:45 a.m.  If your child is not in the classroom at this time, please walk him/her
to the front office to get a tardy slip before coming to class.  Five tardies within one quarter of school will result in an unexcused absence.

Grades:

You may monitor your child’s grades by accessing Bay District's Parent Portal.  Bay District Schools will be using Parent Portal to communicate messages, progress reports, etc.  I urge everyone to sign up for an account and access it frequently to stay current on your child's grades. Please see the front office to sign up for Parent Portal so that you may access the grade book, and other important information related to your child. Follow this link to visit the Parent Portal:
